'Dear Jennen, Let me take this opportunity to say a very belated thank you for the beautiful performance you and the other musicians provided for our wedding on 12-10-2012. We went off on our honeymoon straight away and have been so busy since we got back that I still haven't got around to doing our thank you's! So I apologise for the lateness, but again thank you so much. You all sounded amazing and we received so many positive comments from our guests. Thank you for playing our special requests too - I couldn't pick which song to walk down the aisle to, but when I heard your "Bittersweet / Canon" medley on the website I knew that was the one! Ave Maria was also special to us as it's the song my grandmother walked down the aisle to, so having string musicians play that live added a special touch to our day that wouldn't have been the same if we'd played recorded music. I think from memory you didn't get time to play the full Elbow song "One Day Like This" as we were running late, but I do remember hearing the start of it and it sounded amazing. I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you all in person but I could hear the music as I was getting ready and I loved it :-)
I have attached the photos that our photographers took (they are the ones in black and white), and also some that our guests took. The professional ones haven't been edited in any way, but if you need them re-touched Rory could do that for you. We didn't have a videographer on the day, so unfortunately we don't have any professional video footage to supply to you. 'Hi String Musicians, Sorry for the late reply - we were exhausted after the wedding and the guests have been calling continuously since to congratuate us and tell us it was the best wedding they've ever been to! You were absolutely FANTASTIC!!! I was very, very pleased. When I walked in to the chapel to The Queen of Sheba the guests were very impressed. Guests told me that they couldn't believe how great and beautiful the music was, and how rich the sound was in the chapel. Some of the guests love Baroque music and really enjoyed the pieces chosen, and the few guests who usually don't listen to classical music said they had been converted to it as it sounded so good! I want to also say thanks very much for playing the Lawrence piece again when our friend Sandra (cheekily!) requested it (you probably gathered as well that a number of people were very excited to hear it again!). It sounded fantastic and a number of guests who didn't know the Lawrence overture said how beautiful the Finale music was. Jeff and I had a fantastic wedding and the music really impressed eveyone. I would be very pleased to recommend you for any event. If you would like some photos I would be very happy to email them to you. I've only got the photos at the moment that family took where the quartet is in the background (one photo is attached here), but I will be meeting the official photographer on Thursday night to go through the other photos, so I would be happy to send you some of the photos showing the quartet. Dear Jennen, thank you for your comments re the performance you provided for Caroline and Ross's wedding.
The fact is that we had a rather long gap between the wedding ceremony and the actual reception and it was rather hard to see how to keep the guests focussed for the duration, drinks, etc, notwithstanding. So we thought perhaps a string quartet- and that's what got us looking until we found you.
We are so pleased with our inadvertent cleverness. You were marvellous! The guests were all extremely impressed, and could not believe the time had passed so quickly. We have had lots of congratulations on engaging such an accomplished quartet.
The Montsalvat people were equally impressed with you, so hopefully they will be suggesting to other wedding parties that they should consider engaging you. Your quartet was very professional and obviously you all knew your business.
As I have pointed out to all those who have talked about you, your suggestions and choices of repertoire were very appropriate and sounded superb. There is something about a live performance, right there in the chamber with you, that no recording can match.
In to the bargain you were self-organised and self-managing so that we had nothing to do but enjoy your music. There were not many facets of Caroline's wedding that required so little attention from us.
Would I engage you again and would I ask for anything different next time? YES and YES - but I would engage you for a lot longer and probably ask you to repeat several of the compositions you performed. Once was not really enough.
So thank you all from our families and friends, we wish you the best of luck and many more engagements.
